Zenith Restaurant: A halal Chinese restaurant in Kuala Lumpur
Blogging about Malaysian politic is not only tiring, but also makes you hungry. So I decided to go out and have something for dinner. After thinking it through, my family decided to try something new for us… Chinese style meals. But where to find a halal Chinese restaurant in Kuala Lumpur? Well not terribly hard I’d say… thanks to Google. A quick internet search shows there is one in Desa Petaling, which is not too far from our place. Zenith Restaurant is owned by Haslinda Sim Abdullah who became a Muslim 20 years ago (follow the link for more photos).
So after our Maghrib prayer, off we went to Desa Petaling along the Kuala Lumpur - Seremban Highway. It is not hard at all to find the place. From Kuala Lumpur to Seremban, you enter Desa Petaling on the left hand side just after the SMART toll. Upon reaching the T-junction, turn left and you will see the blocks where the halal Chinese restaurant is located on your left. But Zenith Restaurant does not face the main road. You have to go in as it faces the middle road separating the two blocks.
Here are what we ordered based on gut feeling……he he.
Ying Yang Fish. Half of the siakap fish is butter-fried (boneless) while the other half is deep-fried until crispy.. the whole fish is served with black soy sauce… we all loved this dish. It’s so different from the Malay style that we are so used to.
This dish is mantis prawns. I don’t remember what this dish is called but it was equally yummy and good. Next time I will try just the plainly fried mantis prawns.
This is vegetable meal, served with bean curd…. also can’t remember the name but I can tell it is yummy too!!
We also ordered Zenith Kai Lan and mixed seafood tom yam but I did not have the photos. The Zenith Kai Lan was extremely tasty, I strongly recommend if you ever visited Zenith Restaurant. But the tom yam was not as tasty as the ones we used to get at a Thai restaurant.. but then it is understandable. We should have settled for the Chinese style soup.. next time for sure.
All in all, for those who are new to Chinese food, I highly recommend Zenith Restaurant for those who are willing to try something different. For Chinese food lovers, I am sure you will not be disappointed as well. The prices were reasonable too. We paid RM98.00 including soft drinks and fruit juices but that was because we ordered something that would have been enough to serve 6 people when there was only four of us.
