Yet another Malaysian blogger in trouble

Nathaniel arrested under OSABut he is not just another blogger. Graduated from Harvard, Nathaniel Tan, 26, a Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR) Information Bureau staff is also the secretary for an international NGO Foundation of the Future, whose chairman is Anwar Ibrahim.

Nat, as he is commonly known among close friends, apparently is being detained under the Official Secret Act (OSA) making him the first blogger in Malaysia to be arrested under the act, a record I am sure Nat is not proud of…. but I could be wrong here.

His arrest is the result of Deputy Internal Security Minister Johari Baharom’s instructions to police to trace the authors that spread “lies” through websites.

It is believed that the offending material in his blog refers to allegations of corruption against Johari which appeared in an anonymous website.
