Welcome to Pakatan Rakyat, Dr Tan Yee Kew

by CJCM on August 3rd, 2008

Dr Tan Yee Kew joined PKR of Pakatan RakyatYes, I did it on purpose. I welcome Dr Tan Yee Kew to Pakatan Rakyat instead of PKR. With that, I hope Dr Tan Yee Kew will understand why.

The new post 12th general election political scenario in Malaysia brings a whole lot of new dimension to all opposition parties and the people of Malaysia.

Opposition parties are no more about pursuing individual party’s agenda. It is all about the people’s wish. That is why, I am sure, almost everyone was happy when what is used to be Barisan Alternatif or Barisan Rakyat (to a lesser extent) had officially changed to Pakatan Rakyat.

No matter what are the main ideologies of each individual party within the Pakatan Rakyat, the objectives must be unified to pursue what are wanted by the rakyat, the Malaysian people.

Excerpt from Malaysiakini report:

Former MCA Wanita deputy chief and Ministry of International Trade and Industry parliamentary secretary Dr Tan Yee Kew today crossed over with 1,700 others to PKR in Klang - the constituency which she once represented for 13 years.

To rousing applause from a crowd of about 1,500 people who packed the convention hall of the Klang Executive Club, Tan said that despite the reverses suffered by the BN in the recent elections, “they are oblivious of the people’s discontent” and consumed “by power struggles” within component parties.

“The BN just doesn’t get it,” she said. “The March 8 election was a warning to them to act quickly and take steps to tackle issues like rising costs and crime, restoring the judiciary, and bringing equitable development for all,” she added.

“But the BN has not only lost its sense of priorities, it has also lost its direction,” said Tan, holder of a doctorate in development studies from Universiti Malaya and the member of parliament for Klang for three terms from 1995.

So Dr Tan Yee Kew, with you joining Pakatan Rakyat from Barisan Nasional, I hope you will throw away those BN traits Malaysian people are so familiar with and adopt the new way of thinking and acting in serving the rakyat, not serving any individual leader within Pakatan Rakyat. Welcome again Dr Tan Yee Kew.

When will the rest of passengers of the sinking ship named BN cross over? Sometime in September I heard?
