A veteran Umno leader today said he had been asked to pay for votes in an upcoming contest for top posts, and warned that money politics would destroy the organisation.
Foreign Minister Rais Yatim said “the majority” of Umno members were more interested in making money out of the election than in voting for the right person.

Well, Muhyiddin’s concern about UMNO Baru’s critical conditions due to rampant corruption within UMNO Baru is neither new nor shocking. The ACA reform was long overdue but only after four years taking over from Mahathir, Pak Lah’s finally had the gut (or is forced?) to announce his government’s intention to make the ACA a fully independent commission which will be answerable to Parliment. It is obvious, the announcement had something to do with the fact that BN had suffered a severe blow in the recent general elections that clearly shows Malaysians are fed up with BN.
