Schools in Malaysia Reopen Today and Tomorrow
2006’s long school holiday is finally over. Luckily I am still on leave due to new year holiday which is brought forward because 1st January 2007 is already a public holiday. I had to send two of my daughters to the hostels today even thoug they will only start school tommorow. However both of them go to different school around Kuala Lumpur so half day today is just for sending the two girls. In between these two trips, we stopped by at another daughter’s school to pay for this year’s school fees. She is going to sit for a major exam at Standard 6 primary school.
On our way back home, we stopped by at a kindergarten to register our youngest daughter who will start pre-school at 5 years old. She was very happy to know that she will be starting school tomorrow. Having to pay for everything for 4 children going to schools in Kuala Lumpur is quite expensive. That does not yet count my eldest son who is waiting for his Form 5 (SPM) examination result. If he does well, that means he will enter tertiary education this year which is going to cost quite a lot.
Meanwhile, in the state of Johor which is still flooded, there are a lot of schools remain closed. Tens of thousands of flood victims still occupying the schools. And in some schools where the situation had returned to normal, the schools are being cleared of debris caused by the flood. I hope the state will return to normal life soon after what is said to be one of the worst flood in Johor’s history.
