Rais confirmed UMNO Baru is a corrupt party
A veteran Umno leader today said he had been asked to pay for votes in an upcoming contest for top posts, and warned that money politics would destroy the organisation.
Foreign Minister Rais Yatim said “the majority” of Umno members were more interested in making money out of the election than in voting for the right person.

“We have been approached under the cloak of assistance and cloak of contribution. (But) I’m not a player so you don’t see my marks going up very high.
“If you want to be a good player, you have to say yes (to vote-buying),” he told reporters.

But there will be no action from ACA because of obvious reasons. ACA, when it comes to things like this would give all sorts of excuses like there is no formal reports etc… never mind the fact that Rais Yatim had said it in certain terms. Never mind the fact that Mahathir had been saying all along that money politics did exist in UMNO Baru. Never mind that some of the small fish in UMNO Baru had been suspended from the party due to money politic. No wonder… ACA not seen as not impartial. Big fish escapes, small fish caught.
Don’t believe? Ask Abdul Ghafur Salleh why he will back any move to place ACA under Parliment.
Outspoken Sabahan MP Abdul Ghapur Salleh (BN-Kalabakan) said he would support any move to place the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) under Parliament to strengthen its independence from the government of the day.
He cited the admission by Sabah Progressive Party (Sapp) former deputy president Raymond Tan a month ago that he (Tan) had asked the ACA not to act against party president Yong Teck Lee over allegations of corruption.
