PKFZ: Ramli Ngah Talib rejected urgent motion on RM4.6 billion scandal

No need to debate PKFZ…. after all it’s free zone, right? This blogger had predicted that the Speaker will reject the urgent motion by Lim Kit Siang to debate the PKFZ fiasco in the Parliment. Malaysiakini report today confirmed just that… and the reason given?

“The government is looking into the matter and as such there is no need to debate it in Parliament,” said Ramli in disallowing the debate.

Does that mean for all matters discussed in Parliment, the Government is not looking into them?

Lim Kit Siang of course was disappointed with the decision.

“It would appear that no Barisan Nasional MP (member of parliament) is prepared to take a principled stand demanding full parliamentary accountability of the scandal,” he said.

Just for record, it is well known that BN MPs are bound by parties regulation that no BN MPs are allowed to support any motion by Opposition parties, regardless of the nature of the motion. Any BN MP tries to be smart in this respect will face disciplinary action from the parties. True democracy is really alive in Malaysia?
