ISA: The fickle-mindedness of MCA and Gerakan leaders
For a while, Malaysians, or MCA and Gerakan members to be more specific, thought there is going to be new MCA and Gerakan emerging from the summit of both parties recently.
Koh said other areas of reforms should cover the Internal Security Act (ISA), Printing Presses and Publications Act (PPPA) and the University and University Colleges Act (UUCA).
Koh Tsu Koon, as reported by Malaysiakini Oct 11 2008
“Any outdated law should be subject to review. This is the position of the four MCA cabinet ministers. In cabinet meetings, we will pursue the matter,” he told a press conference held at the end …read more
Musa is wrong about UMNO.
“UMNO is already over 61 years old and is experiencing ‘penyakit tua’ (old age sickness) which cannot be remedied by senior citizens but rather the younger generations with new ideas”
Musa Hitam, 22nd October 2008
Musa is wrong when he says UMNO is over 61. He has forgotten (Mahathir was right when he said ‘Melayu mudah lupa’) that UMNO had ‘died’ of ‘not’ old age but sudden ’stroke’ and ‘heart attack’ at a rather not-so-old age. That was in 1987 when UMNO was declared illegal (thanks to Mahathir of course) by the court. Without going into detail of what had taken place, …read more

A veteran Umno leader today said he had been asked to pay for votes in an upcoming contest for top posts, and warned that money politics would destroy the organisation.

suhakam religion culture conference 090906 rais yatim speak”The majority of Umno people want to look for money and not for good leaders,” said Rais, a member of Umno’s decision-making committee who is vying for the vice-presidency.

BN MPs, supporters and voters… wake up!
The following scenario depicts the actual reality of the BN Government…..
A Sabah MP today raised serious queries on the funds promised to his home state under the RM105 billion Sabah Development Corridor (SDC) launched in January.
[...]“There was not even a single grain of sand sent to us, was it just sweet-talk by the government to win the general election? The RM5 billion, will it be given, or will it not be given to us?”
[...]“Sabah does not need any sweet-talk. If there is (allocation), give it, if there’s not, let us know. Even in the Budget 2009 (tabled last August) the …read more

The fishermen’s village of Tok Bali, Kelantan

During my return trip to Kuala Lumpur after my recent Aidil Fitri vacation, I had a very bad feeling that there was going to be a big traffic jam so I didn’t follow the normal routes. Instead, starting my journey at about 11:30am from Pulau Melaka, I head off to Tok Bali through Bachok, and then from Tok Bali I cut accross to Pasir Putih and then merged with the mad traffic in Machang.
Under normal circumstances, the Machang to Kuala Krai trip would have taken no more than 20 minutes but on that fateful day, 4th October 2008, …read more
Mahathir returning to Malaysian politic?

Malaysakini’s report, Mahathir may return to center stage, is quite scary to say the least.
Even a foreign diplomat has his reservation…. the same report quoted:
“Mr Najib is a carbon copy of Dr Mahathir and we fear in his rise to power a possible return of iron-fisted rule and intolerance for dissent and curbs on he political opposition,” said a diplomat with a European mission, on condition of anonymity.
On the local front, only Zaid Ibrahim had the gut to speak his mind:
“Najib is smart and articulate but to change the course of Umno, he has to be brave and why …read more

Soto Sungai Serdang

It has been a long 2-week absence from blogging since I left for my home town in Kota Bharu for Aidil Fitri vacation. I was back a few days ago but lots of thing kept me busy so please accept my apology for the 2 week hiatus.
I had soto for dinner today which my wife bought from a local stall near my house but I didn’t really enjoy it and neither did she. Speaking of soto, always remind us of Soto Sungai Serdang near Kapar. We used to live there and Soto Sungai Serdang is definitely the best soto we …read more
