Not compulsory for teachers to attend state functions: Just another example of BN’s foolish act
By DERRICK VINESH
PENANG: No action will be taken against teachers who do not attend official functions organised by the new state government.
National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) Penang branch Lim Ming Tzong @ Adam Alim Abdullah said teachers in Penang no longer needed to give explanation letters for failing to attend such functions.
He said the teachers were granted the “flexibility” since the state was no longer under the Barisan Nasional rule.
“A senior state Education Department official recently told school heads at a briefing that attendance was immaterial.
“But, those who plan to attend such functions are required to first inform their school heads about it,” he said Wednesday.
Previously, he said, disciplinary action would be taken against teachers who failed to provide reasonable excuses for not attending state-organised functions.
Lim advised teachers to use their discretion on whether to attend such functions, adding that those who did not would not be penalised.

The BN goons never learned a thing even after they lost badly in the recent general election.
The latest unofficial directive by State Education Department officers not only shows that the BN is still continually trying to enforce ‘divide and rule’ policy over the school teachers but also reveals the true colors of BN… the colours of hypocricy, bad governance, selfish and what not.
However, fear not…. let the BN goons do what they want for the next four years for they have only the next four years to show their foolishness. What with all the good examples shown by the five Barisan Rakyat-lead state governments, the four years leading to the next generall elections will only show to the people that this BN Government do not deserve to rule Malaysia for all their foolish acts and unfair treatments across all areas of governance.
So, ‘leave Luncai alone with his pumpkins’ (biarkan Luncai dengan labu-labunya) and when 13th general election comes, the People Power can finish off the remaining power-crazy BN government once and for all.

As civil servants, the director of Education and teachers should be neutral and respect the mandate of the people of Penang. Such a directive shows that the director is siding the opposition now. Please be fair! NUTP(Saudara Lim M.T.) ,why are you following orders blindly? Civil servants get their pay from the taxpayers too, remember that!
CJCM: Leong, the whole administration system had been infested. Threat were used against government officers and teachers to surpress their supports for opposition. The entire system needs to be cleaned up and it will take looooong time. But this will start to change…. God willing.
Anwar Ibrahim not bluffing… I hope so!
