National Bloggers Alliance…. blogging in Malaysia just got merrier

Thanks to NST and the four individuals that started the defamation suit against Jeff Ooi and Ahiruddin Attan aka Rocky. Thanks also to Tengku Adnan for calling Malaysian bloggers are liars over Nila Tanzil’s revelation of her experience with Malaysia Tourism Board. Thank you so much to Kementerian Dalam Negeri (Internal Affair Ministry)for issuing directive to mainstream medias not to quote bloggers in their reportings. And the latest thank you is to none other than Shaziman Abu Mansor , the Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Energy, Water and Commnication, for bringing up in the Parliment seating, the idea of registering Malaysian bloggers.
Except for bloggers themselves and internet savvy Malaysians who are hungry for alternative source of news and information, blogging used to be a relatively unknown profession to average Malaysians. However, due to great publicity generated by the individuals and organizations I mentioned above, blogging is now more popular than ever in Malaysia.
As a result of these massive publicity, generated offline and online, there are now many more new bloggers appearing on the internet, despite efforts by the Malaysian Government to regulate blogging, which is seen by the public at large as trying to curb the influence of bloggers over the mainstream medias. Bloggers United movement was born in support of Jeff Ooi and Rocky when they were served with the defamation suit by NST and the four individuals. Reacting further to the proposed ruling to register bloggers in Malaysia, Malaysian bloggers had just formed what is called National Bloggers Alliance. 5th April 2007 will be entered into Malaysian history of the future. That is the day when 40-odds Malaysian bloggers had met and formed a Pro-tem Committee of National Alliance of Bloggers.
President - Ahirudin Attan, Vice President - Jeff Ooi, Secretary - Nuraina A. Samad, Treasurer - Tony Yew, Council Members: Patrick Teoh, Bernard Khoo, Syed Azidi Syed Abdul Aziz, Syed Jamal al-Idrus, Rajahram Ramalingam, Annuratha K, Emy Husni, and Soon Li Tsin
Interestingly, I have also recently launched CJCMedia Network, the first Malaysia-based blog network.

The purpose CJCMedia Network is however to pool together Malaysian and international bloggers who have passions for writing and at the same time to explore the opportunity of earning some revenue by blogging under a Malaysia-based blog network umbrella. If you love writing and are looking for a platform to launch your ‘blogging career’, find out how you can write for CJCMedia Network.
Malaysian bloggers sued, calling Malaysian bloggers liars, Bloggers United, efforts to regulate blogging by the Malaysian Government, National Bloggers Alliance, CJCMedia Network….. Malaysian blogging scene is just getting merrier… don’t you think so?
