Nasi Lemak - The Most Popular Meal in Malaysia
I love cooking. This is what I and my wife cooked for today’s breakfast. Its called nasi lemak, a coconut flavoured rice meal. Nasi lemak is very famous in Malaysia, usually enjoyed by all Malaysian at breakfast. However the trend has changed, you can now get nasi lemak for breakfast, lunch or dinner. And it is not uncommon to find these dishes available at many 24-hours food stalls around Kuala Lumpur, not forgetting to mention at the hotels as well.
The rice is served with hot chilli-based thick gravy (sambal) with anchovies, peanuts, cucumber and boiled eggs. If you buy nasi lemak at the stalls, the choice is unbelievably wide. You can have nasi lemak with fried chicken, beef rendang (another famous Malaysian dish, hopefully I will be able to feature this one here too later) prawn, squids or clams sambal..and what not… its just mouth watering.
I have a few European friends who had trouble with this very hot and spicy meal at the beginning but really enjoy the meal after getting used to it.
If you are wondering how is nasi lemak cooked, check it out at Malaysian Food.net

I have ten minutes until lunch, but I have to tell you that looks so yummy. There is a nasi goreng dish that I learned to make in The Netherlands and I love that chili based gravy. Ok, off to lunch.

Alli, thanks for the compliment… if only you can have the real one here… hehe.
Why not make your Netherland nasi goreng and post the pic on your site so that we all can enjoy your culinary skill.
