MAS Zero-Fare: AirAsia striked back with Sub-Zero Fare

Air-Asia’s Sub-Zero FareJust one day after MAS’s Idris Jala announced Zero-fare Campaign where 1,000,000 seats are on offer at RM0.00 for domestic travel destinations, AirAsia’s Tony Fernandes announced that he will come up with a better offer. What is better than RM0.00? Well… you know it… anything less than RM0.00 is better and that is exactly what Tony is planning to come up with in the next few days…

AirAsia has countered Malaysia Airline’s Zero Fare campaign claiming that their cheapest air ticket still costs less than the national carrier’s latest product that was launched yesterday.

The budget carrier’s chief executive officer Datuk Tony Fernandes announced that his airline would come out with two new initiatives. They are:

> AirAsia will pay the difference to any of his passengers if they can find any MAS airfare that is lower than the cheapest offered by AirAsia.

> A sub-Zero Fare campaign.

“Just print out the confirmed booking from MAS and I will pay the difference. As for the sub-Zero Fare, which will be launched in the next few days, it will be cheaper than zero,” said Fernandes in an interview

Hi, hope you don’t mind I share my opinion here. As now what I see, both airlines are giving consumers low fares, which is good for all of us…hehe..Notice on the image, Air Asia is slight cheaper than MAS, RM13.50 diff.. Yet, I will go for MAS, you knwo why..because MAS will provide me food, but AirAsia you need to buy your food which is not cheap, I think RM13.50 is not enough for a nasi lemak, drink and snacks, you may need to pull cash from your wallet.. And if let’s say, I have 2 baggage, RM3/piece, so RM6 for 2.. So actually add up the total, it will cost more than RM76.. One more very important thing, services from MAS is much more better than AirAsia, MAS won The Best Cabin Crew Award last year…

CJCM: Thx for shaing with us Afred. You are right in your analysis. Not that I am a supporter of AirAsia, but if Tony Fernandes read this analysis… he will probably come back with something that will even take care of the foods and the luggage…. you never know.
