KLiH Home Cooking: Frankfurter Breadroll and Tandoori Chicken
My daughters are all at home for their school holidays. It is normal for us to have some kind of family activities at home and most of the time it is centered around the activities in the kitchen.. cooking our favourite meals together. So yesterday I woke them up very early to help prepare breakfast and lunch together.. :) The menu this time was Frankfurter Breadroll for breakfast and Tandoori Chicken, served with Tomato Rice and Pineapple Curry for lunch. It is not hard at all to prepare these favourite meals especialy if you do it together with your loved ones… it was so much fun!!
For the Frankfurter Breadroll, I did not have to do anything at all. The whole thing was done by my daughter Aini with some help from her younger sister Fadhilah and elder sister Sakinah. Shown above are all the stuffs you need for the Frankfurter Breadroll…. the sandwich bread, chicken frankfurters, beaten-eggs and pounded-biscuits…. of course you need some oil for deep-frying.
Aini learnt how to cook this meal at her school in one of the subjects taught in the school… I think Ekonomi RumahTangga (ERT)…. where she learns all the household stuffs like cooking simple meals, sewing and so on.
To make the Frankfurter Breadroll, simply wrap the frankfurter with a sandwich bread and seal the bread’s edge with beaten-egg.
Apply the wrapped-frankfurter breadroll with a thin layer of beaten-egg and cover the entire breadroll with pounded-biscuit.
Deepfry the whole thing in hot oil (enough oil to cover the whole bread) until golden brown.. and you have a simple but very nice meal for breakfast (serve with your favourite chillie sauce) for the entire family.
For lunch, we had the Tandoori Chicken served with Tomato Rice and Pineapple Curry (Pajeri Nenas). I will blog on how we prepare these dishes in my other KLih Home Cooking series but for today, the pictures below show what we had for lunch yesterday…. hmmm don’t they look yummy?
