Chalet Mesra at Pengkalan Balak, Malacca

Mesra Chalet in Pengkalan Balak, Masjid Tanah, Malacca
A reader of my blog sent me an email with a link to a chalet in Malacca. Mesra Chalet is located in Pangkalan Balak, Masjid Tanah, Malacca. I have been to Pengkalan Balak a couple of times quite a long time ago but I can’t remember which chalet I had stayed in at that time. From the look of this photo, I suspect that I probably I had stayed in this chalet before but my memory can’t recall this for sure.

Regardless of whether I had stayed or not at Mesra Chalet before, I like this chalet because it is facing straight to the sea. Many chalets in Malacca, especially in Tanjung Bidara, are built not facing the beach. Not only that, most of Tanjung Bidara chalets are separated from the beaches by a stretch of road which is built along the beaches which means you have to cross the road to get to the beaches… something I don’t really fancy. Despite this drawback, chalets at Tanjung Bidara still attract a lot of visitors due to the popularity of the beaches at Tanjung Bidara.

Pengkalan Balak, however, is not far from Tanjung Bidara. So next time you are in Masjid Tanah for holiday, you may want to try this Mesra Chalet. At RM70 per night for non-airconditioned room and RM80 per night for airconditioned room, Mesra Chalet definitely offers good value for your money.

Don’t forget to enjoy nice ikan bakar (grilled fish) if you are spending your holiday in Pangkalan Balak next time.

Been there and stayed at mesra chalet last weekend…nice place with a friendly owner…beach was OK to me..
BUT, please avoid a stall beside the “Pondok Polis” at pengkalan balak…There are local gangsters “lepak” / loitering there…Myself has been a victim and nearly got beaten up by them….The incident happened when i seek an honest appology from the stall owner since his waiter had accidently “shower” my son with a glass of nescafe….but instead i was harrased by the owner and the local “samseng”…
Try to avoid that stall since there are a lot of other places to eat there with decent hospitality.
