I read the latest news at Malaysiakini with my mouth wide opened and jaw dropped… awed by another Malaysia Boleh spirit that should not have been in the first place.
An explosive video clip showing senior lawyer VK Lingam in a telephone conversation allegedly with Chief Justice Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Abdul Halim discussing the appointment of judges was released today.
The eight-minute clip, which was taken in 2002, was made public by PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim today.
Among the matters being discussed were the appointment of Ahmad Fairuz as the Chief Judge of Malaya and his promotion as the Chief Justice.

Although Ahiruddin Atan a.k.a Rocky said he is safe because he is not inside the 60km-range of the deadly weapon called HIMARS, our top military brass should be concerned of this latest purchase by Singapore.

There were so many people at the Batu Buruk shooting incident and yet only this one poor soul dare enough to come up with an eyewitness account of the incident? Of course there were many more who saw what had happened, but knowing what sort of trouble they will get from the police if they come forward, the public choose to remain silent. Even Osman conceded that he did not trust the cops. His fear does hold water knowing the fact that he is an opposition party, PAS, supporter.

For generations, Malaysian Parliment speakers have been suffering from a syndrom called Opposyphobia. No, don’t bother to refer to your Thesaurus or google the phrase on the web because this syndrom is only applicable in Malaysian Parliment thus not defined anywhere else in the world. I had wanted to comment on the recent Budget 2008 announced by Pak Lah but what happened in Batu Buruk deserved urgent posting here.
If I remember correctly, police violence towards the public was never heard off until Anwar Ibrahim were sacked by Mahathir Mohamed in September 1998. The sacking of the charismatic leader had sparked off massive street demonstration by his supporters. It was at this time that the police force, especially FRUs, were heavily deployed to disperse crowds that had caused major headache to the BN Government led by Mahathir. I read with interest about latest news in Malaysiakini where PAC is reportedly not happy with PKFZ explanation about the mega project that caused major uproar among the public, save of course for some selected Malaysian ministers that should not have been elected in the first place for failing to champion and safeguard the interest of the people who had elected them to office.

September 4th 2007. Paya Berembang looked like a battle zone. The local authority went there with an army of police personnels, FRU personnels complete with six water cannon trucks not to mention six excavators. Their mission was to get rid of thousands of pigs and close the farm that had been the source of environmental problem for a long time.
