AirAsia: Now not everyone can fly

AirAsia: Now not everyone can fly

I knew about the fact that AirAsia doesn’t use the sky-bridges at the airports (except at the KLIA) before but it never cross my mind that such a missing ‘frill’ would cause so much difficulty to special group of people whom we always make sure their needs are taken care of whenever and wherever they go… the disabled folks.
The very first time I used AirAsia flying from Kota Bharu to Kuala Lumpur, I asked the airport staff why the passengers were not using the sky-bridges when there were such facilities available. The answer was pretty straight forward. Tony Fernandez decided …read more

CTOS: Kayveas should get better bonus this year

CTOS: Kayveas should get better bonus this year

If Malaysian government pays bonus based on performance, Dato’ M Kayveas should get more and bountiful bonus this year. This guy knew what he was doing when it comes to CTOS case. When CTOS sent him a demad letter, he appropriately regarded that as a joke. In fact, it must have been a joke CTOS’s CEO Chung Tze Keong regretted dearly.
While CTOS is appropriately reprimanded for its costly error, there are other questions remain to be answered and explained to the Malaysian public. While we now know CTOS is not even official, why are the Banks are using this service …read more

Indelible ink check: Don’t be overly happy yet

Indelible ink check: Don’t be overly happy yet

I thought I was dreaming when I read the Malaysiakini’s report about Election Commission’s willingness to use the indelible ink to prevent multiple voting, a proposal that had long been demanded by opposition parties.
“In principle, yes, the commission has agreed to the proposal pending further research on two issues,” EC chairperson Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman told Malaysiakini this afternoon.
If implemented, this measure will certainly give a big confidence boost to all parties… the present BN Government, the EC as well as the opposition parties.
The public’s perception towards the Government and EC would definitely improve, which might translate to …read more

System to fight mobile phone theft: A long awaited solution from authority

System to fight mobile phone theft: A long awaited solution from authority

While there is no statistics about it, mobile phones theft in Malaysia must have cost the public millions of dollars. And after so many years, the authorities has finally acted appropriately. The move by the government to setup the lost and stolen mobile phone database and completely disable the phone may have come a little bit late compared to other countries, but as the saying goes.. better late than never. I like to thank and congratulate the Government and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for taking this initiative to protect the interest of the public.
With this preventive measure taken …read more

Sexist remark: MPs finally apologizes… to women

Sexist remark: MPs finally apologizes… to women

They uttered the words, they denied about it initially, they were reported to have apologized and retracted back, and finally today it took a meeting with Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil for these MPs to apologize.
Even then, I still think many women will find their apology questionable based on what had been reported by Malaysiakini.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, both the MPs said they would like to tender their apologies, if “women were offended”.
However they defended their words used in the Dewan as necessary to defend the government during debates.
They also did not …read more

Sexist remark in Parliment: Malaysian MPs are insensitive lots

“Mana ada bocor, Batu Gajah pun tiap-tiap bulan bocor juga (Where is the leak? Batu Gajah leaks every month too).”
The above statement (referring to woman’s monthly menstruation period) came from a Malaysian Parlimentarian who is obviously has no regards for woman. To add salt to injury, another Member of Parliment even has the audacity to claim
…when we say such things in Parliment, we take them as a joke, not as personal attack.
A joke? What an insentivive MP we have here. No wonder women all over the country are fuming mad.
Malaysiakini reported :

‘We want gender sensitive MPs!’ …read more

Malaysian Government told by NUJM to recognize bloggers

Malaysian Government told by NUJM to recognize bloggers

National Union of Journalist of Malaysia has urged the Malaysian Government to recognize bloggers. This is something very encouraging for the Malaysia’s blogosphere. Bloggers in Malaysia, especially SOPO bloggers, have been at the loggerheads with the Government recently over what is claimed by the Government as irresponsible blogging by the online writers.
The timely call was made by Norila Mohd Daud, the president of the National Journalists Union inconjunction with the International Press Freedom Day which falls tomorrow.
“The usage of internet and the concept of the uncensored `borderless world’ have made information more easily accessible to anyone. As such, any abuses …read more
