Maal Hijrah 1430H

Wishing all Muslims around the world, a very Happy New Year 1403H.
May Allah forgive our past sins and lead all of us to a better year of 1403H. May this new Islamic year brings us more ‘barakah’ and ‘rahmat’ from Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala
To the uninitiated, today (28th Dec 2008), is the first day (1st Muharram) of Muslim calendar year 1403H. The start of Muslim year, Muharram, coincides with Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) journey from Mecca to Medina on the first of Muharram in 622AD.
Hijrah means migration. The Hijrah refers to the Prophet’s migration from Mecca to Madinah. This journey …read more

No Sedition Act against Ahmad Ismail: I concur

No Sedition Act against Ahmad Ismail: I concur

While I agree stern actions should be taken against the recalcitrant Ahmad Ismail over his racist remarks against the Chinese, he should never be charged under the draconian Sedition Act we have all resented.
A number of civil society groups have opposed the use of the Sedition Act against Umno Bukit Bendera division chief Ahmad Ismail.
“The use of the Sedition Act legitimises the draconian act which has long been condemned by civil society and opposition parties.
“Rather than use it to further curb the freedom of expression – whoever the accused – the Umno politician and his colleagues who backed …read more

Is travelling by train for you?

Is travelling by train for you?

Honestly…. not for me, not on KTM train anyway. I had tried once by taking a KTM train from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bharu and I didn’t like it at all. The train was rocking left and right, noisy and hopelessly slow… I was sleepless the whole night. I dare not step my foot in a train for a long journey again. But the commuter train is OK for me, I can handle that for very short commuting.
Coincidently, read an interesting account of a train journey, from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu, by one of our fellow bloggers George in …read more

Mahathir admitted fault: What about other mistakes doc?

Malaysiakini reported:
Dr Mahathir Mohamad has urged Umno members not to repeat his ‘mistake’ in backing Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to be prime minister.
“I admit I was wrong in choosing Abdullah as my successor. Now I regret because I didn’t think that ‘Mr Clean’ would not be that clean.
“I believe that Umno members and leaders at all levels who are angry with me (for anointing Abdullah) surely does not want to make the same mistake,” said Mahathir.

BN 2008 Campaign Site: A waste of time and money

BN 2008 Campaign Site: A waste of time and money

When I first read in Malaysiakini about the new website put up by the BN Government as part of their 2008 Elections campaign, I thought it would be the cyber platform for the BN to launch its cyber war attack against the Oppositions who are fighting the cyberspace with an army of voluntary bloggers and webmasters. But I was in for a big dissappointment.
The new BN 2008 Campaign Site is just so outdated and backward in terms of its functionalities. There is no interactive elements at all. As I go through the entire contents of the website, it …read more
