Kuala Terengganu by-election: Another buy-election?

Kuala Terengganu by-election: Another buy-election?

From past experiences, by-elections have always been seen as buy-elections by many quarters except the government. During by-elections, there are tonnes of money poured by the government in the forms of development projects, allocations, donations to poor people, long standing land applications that are suddenly approved and what not.
As far as Terengganu is concerned, there are already many completed and on going projects since BN’s worst general election ‘awarded’ to the people of Terengganu. Just take a drive from Kuantan to Kota Bharu along the coastal road and you will have to spend at least additional 2 – 3 hours …read more

Permatang Pauh victory: Will Anwar deliver his end of the bargains?

Permatang Pauh victory: Will Anwar deliver his end of the bargains?

Wan Azizah Wan Ismail won the seat with a 13,388 majority at the March 8 general elections.
By-election 26th August 2008, Anwar got 31,195 votes, Arif Shah, 15,524, Hanafi, 92.
Anwar won, with a majority of 15,671. Lower turnout and yet Anwar won with a much bigger majority.
Pak Lah, Najib, Arif Shah and the BN guys were saying even less majority for Anwar would have meant a moral victory for BN. It must have been another tsunami for Pak Lah and Najib but who know the guys were still fast asleep.
Did someone by the nick name of KJ a.k.a …read more

Judgement day: 26th August 2008

To the people of Permatang Pauh, wherever you are… remember this date 26th August 2006.
This is going to be one of the days you will want to remember for the rest of your lives, and possibly by many generations to come.
Please do not forget to apply leave from your busy work schedules and make sure you return to Permatang Pauh on this day, 26th August 2006, and liberate yourselves (hence all Malaysians) from this new way of colonialism inflicted upon all of us not by our consents…. by you-know-who.
PERMATANG PAUH FOLKS…. IT IS GOING TO BE 26TH AUGUST …read more

Blogging Permatang Pauh by NST

Blogging Permatang Pauh by NST

It’s interesting to see how MSM now is joining the band wagon in adopting blogs as the new communication media.
I am not sure if NST had something similar to Star Online called Citizen’s blogs, but for the upcoming Permatang Pauh by-election, NST had come up with a new blog called Blogging Permatang Pauh to give latest development on the mother of all by-elections where Arif Shah Omar Shah will take on Anwar Ibrahim.
There are six faces displayed on the front page of the blog whom I assume are the bloggers for NST.
I hope the blog will not be …read more

Permatang Pauh by-election is not about Anwar winning….

Permatang Pauh by-election is not about Anwar winning….

As a matter of fact, the mother of all by-election is also not about BN-candidate, who ever that unlucky guy is, loosing.
Permatang Pauh by-election is (in my humble opinion), among others, all about (in no particular order):

Whether or not Malaysians believe the second sodomy allegation against Anwar
Whether or not Malaysians really meant it when they delivered 5 Malaysian states to the Pakatan Rakyat in the last general election
Whether or not Malaysians really believe in Pakatan Rakyat
Whether ot not Malaysians have had enough of Barisan Nasional
Whether or not Pak Lah is still fast asleep despite landslide loss in the recent …read more

Sharizat: Jihad redefined

Sharizat: Jihad redefined

It looks like we have a new definition for jihad, or holy war, as defined by, of all persons, Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
Wanita Umno has reportedly declared a “jihad” or holy war to prevent opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim returning to Parliament in a by-election this month.
It is a jihad because this individual should not be given the chance to destroy the country’s political stability and prosperity,” women’s wing deputy chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said according to The Star newspaper.

Permatang Pauh by-election: Why not Saiful Bukhari?

Permatang Pauh by-election: Why not Saiful Bukhari?

I know… I know… you guys must be saying am I nut or what? However I just want to give a suggestion to BN so that they will be able to save some faces in Permatang Pauh.
We all know too well that whoever is fielded in Permatang Pauh constituency will surely be a sacrificial ‘candidate’. Going by the normal tradition, it is impossible for anyone else to win Permatang Pauh so BN should not waste any good candidate to face Anwar. Fielding either Pirdaus or even Ezam would be a waste laaa for BN, so why not let Saiful …read more

The best election ever? Get real Rashid….

The best election ever? Get real Rashid….

If the March 8th general election is preceived to be the best election ever as claimed by Rashid, then we all know how low the benchmarking quality of the Election Commission (EC) helmed by Rashid. Looking at the things done by Election Commission under Rashid, there is no doubt what so ever that this man has very low passing grade… if Election Commission is ever subjected to any kind of examination or evaluation by Rashid.
With all the irregularities…. Rashid still have the audacity to claim that the recent general election is the best ever. May I ask you Rashid…. under …read more

50 election articles you should read

The 12th Malaysian general election was indeed interesting. It marked the rise of the people’s power and their quest for freedom. One of the freedoms Malaysians are really hungry for is the freedom of expression, physical or otherwise. Internet, naturally, has become the medium where the freedom of expression has been actively pursued by a growing number of Malaysian citizens. Thanks to the internet, blogosphere and alternative online news portal such as Malaysiakini, Malaysia Today, Malaysiakita, KL Pos, HarakahDaily, just to name a few, the political scenes in Malaysia had been changed, forever… I hope.
I scoured the Malaysian political …read more
