Ramadhan: Fasting in Singapore
Alhamdulillah….. this year I have an opportunity to start my fasting month in another country, in this case Singapore. It is not that bad having to start your fasting month away from home, especially in Singapore. There are plenty of halal food joints available and there are also equally good numbers of mosques where you could perform your prayers although I really wish there are many more mosques around the island.

My hotel is only a few bus stops away from Sultan Mosque located at Arab Street so I took this opportunity to break my fast at the Sultan Mosque on my first day of fasting in Singapore.

Here are the dishes prepared by the mosque for those who break their fast at the mosque. The briyani rice are served in a big round tray shared by 4 persons. I miss this way of eating together, which is the way practiced by our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). If you haven’t tried eating this way, you should try it. You may like it too.

There are a lot of people at the mosque during Ramadhan. We performed our Maghrib and Isha prayers together, followed by Tarawih prayers.
I look forward to breaking my fast and performing my prayer here at Sultan Mosque while I am in Singapore this week.
