Sleepless in Singapore: Father-in-Law and Permatang Pauh
It’s 3:28am in Singapore and I am still facing the laptop screen, mixing work and personal things to do. OK I admit I am sleepless maybe due to the fact that I had gone to bed a bit earlier today after finishing my official duty.
But the fact that two significant events had happened while being far away from home left just a little bit of regret in myself but then, life has to go on no matter what.
Me and my wife (and a couple of my kids) had been going back to my hometown in Kota Bharu every weekend for the past 5 weeks to be with my father-in-law who had been hospitalized due to illness and old age.
In my last trip two days ago, we left Kota Bharu at 10:15am and barely made it to LCCT to catch the flight for my business trip to Singapore.
Very early this morning, my wife SMSed me informing of the demise of her beloved father. Although expected, the news was a very sad one nevertheless…. especially when you are hundreds miles away from your loved-ones. Al-Fatihah to my late father-in-law and may his soul rest in peace and may Allah grant Jannah to him in the life hereafter. May Allah also grant my wife and her family, inner and outer strengths to accept this fate with patience, and may Him lead all of us to His paths. Ameen.
On a different note, Permatang Pauh by-election where Anwar Ibrahim is fighting not only a tough fight, but also a crazy battle and how I wish I would be somewhere in Permatang Pauh just to be part of the mother-of-all-by-elections.
To the people of Permatang Pauh, this would be the last call to all of you. Don’t let yourselves being fooled by Pak Lah and Najib over and over again. The chance to give Pak Lah another wake-up call, if he ever got it, is to vote Anwar Ibrahim tomorrow… oppss today. If you had done it for Wan Azizah for so many years, why would you want to do otherwise this time? Thank you.

Condolence to you and family. Sure a bit hard to take it when something of that nature happens while one is away. Semoga beliau ditempatkan bersama orang-orang yang saleh.
