Ramadhan Al-Mubarak

Ramadhan Al-Mubarak is coming again and we should be forever grateful to the Al-Mighty for giving us yet another chance to reap the benefits of Ramadhan, a very special month indeed for all Muslims through out the world.
I would like wish all Muslims, especially my Muslim blog readers, a very happy and meaningful Ramadhan Al-Mubarak. I pray that we will be rewarded plentifully by Allah for our iman and taqwa during this great month where we should concentrate less on worldly affairs and focus on self reformation, spiritual cleansing and enlightenment, establishing a closer link between Allah Almighty and ourselves …read more

31st August 2008: Are we really independent?

31st August 2008: Are we really independent?

OK, to be fair, we are indeed an independent state. Known as Malaya then, we gained independence on 31st August 1957, thanks to the struggles of our ancestors.
But 51 years later, are we really independent in its true sense?
Well, read this excerpts from Malaysiakini in a piece written by Sim Kwang Yang:

For 50 years, we may have said farewell to our former British colonial masters, but their colonial instruments for the oppression of the people and the suppression of their fundamental liberties have been preserved, reinforced, and abused by the same group of ruling elite to ensure their hold on …read more

Budget 2008: RM20 free electricity, a copy-cat yet disappointing

Budget 2008: RM20 free electricity, a copy-cat yet disappointing

BN Government’s RM20 worth of free electricity in the latest Budget 2008 is clearly a direct attempt to emulate what had been done by a Pakatan Rakyat state government recently but in the PR case, it is free water. While I can see the free electricity allocation positively, it is yet disappointing.
In the first place, PR gave RM20 free water, the BN is giving RM20 free electricity… but wait… is it really for all? While the scheme is still sketchy as it is just announced, at this first glance.. it is not really a scheme for all.
While the …read more

DNA bill… another record in the making

DNA bill… another record in the making

Did you remember how super quick the BN jokers in the August House passed a legislation just so that Rashid’s service at the Election Commission can be extended? Well, it looks like there is going to be another entry in the BN’s book of record with regards to the DNA bill.
The interesting part is this:
“What is in question right now is the credibility of the BN-led government for tabling the DNA Identification bill for second reading without any proper consultation with experts of the subject,” he asked.
“Everyone except the BN members is questioning the bill. The bill can only be …read more

Ungrateful BN leaders….

Ungrateful BN leaders….

I was reading this piece from Malaysiakini titled ‘Khairy, look who got buried‘ (go on to click on the link, you need not be a subscriber to read this piece) and I am particularly attracted to an entry by one Dr SK, which I though should be known not just to the people of Permatang Pauh, but also to the whole world.
Dr SK: To all of you who voted for BN, your man Arif and none of the BN big guns or supporters had the grace to attend the announcement of the results of the Permatang Pauh by-election. ‘Thank you’ …read more

Tomorrow, on the way to Parliment….

Tomorrow, on the way to Parliment….

If you see something like this tomorrow somewhere on the road leading to parliment house, you know who they are and what they are going there for. I dont expect there will be police outriders accompanying them, but please… with due respect, do give way to them as they are on a national mission.
September 16…. will it be a reality? Pray to God it will for you can’t afford it if it’s not.
p/s: Sorry, I am so lousy at graphic design, but I hope the picture above will convey what I want to say.

Permatang Pauh victory: Will Anwar deliver his end of the bargains?

Permatang Pauh victory: Will Anwar deliver his end of the bargains?

Wan Azizah Wan Ismail won the seat with a 13,388 majority at the March 8 general elections.
By-election 26th August 2008, Anwar got 31,195 votes, Arif Shah, 15,524, Hanafi, 92.
Anwar won, with a majority of 15,671. Lower turnout and yet Anwar won with a much bigger majority.
Pak Lah, Najib, Arif Shah and the BN guys were saying even less majority for Anwar would have meant a moral victory for BN. It must have been another tsunami for Pak Lah and Najib but who know the guys were still fast asleep.
Did someone by the nick name of KJ a.k.a …read more

Sleepless in Singapore: Father-in-Law and Permatang Pauh

It’s 3:28am in Singapore and I am still facing the laptop screen, mixing work and personal things to do. OK I admit I am sleepless maybe due to the fact that I had gone to bed a bit earlier today after finishing my official duty.
But the fact that two significant events had happened while being far away from home left just a little bit of regret in myself but then, life has to go on no matter what.
Me and my wife (and a couple of my kids) had been going back to my hometown in Kota Bharu every weekend for …read more

AirAsia never changed

AirAsia never changed

Just like BN, it looks like AirAsia too never changed and had hardly learnt from its experience. This airline is synonymous with delay from the very beginning it assumed its operation. In one of my flight to Jakarta many moons back, Tony Fernandes who was making his rounds in the aircraft told everyone the delays were unavoidable as the were short of aircrafts. At that time he asked for some time to fix the problems where the new orders for aircrafts would be delivered.
Now, I don’t remember how many months since that conversations took place, but I am now sitting …read more

New petrol price: The flip flop continues

New petrol price: The flip flop continues

It’s not that we should be complaining about the new lower petrol and diesel prices just announced by the ‘people-caring’ (notice the inverted quotes?) Flip-Flop BN Government… but its the flip flop decision-making from the flip flop BN Government lead by Mr Nice-Flip-Flop-Guy that we all should worry about.
Didn’t Mr Nice-Flip-Flop-Guy’s BN Government say that any new fuel price will only be effected from September 1 and that no new price will be announced prior to September 1? The decision do effect new prices only on September 1 (or I assume on every 1st of the month for that …read more
