Restoran Hj Ramli, Mee Kg. Pek
During my recent trip back to Kelantan, I stopped by at this very down to earth Haji Ramli Restaurant in Kg. Pek, Machang, Kelantan.
Famous for its mee rebus (popularly known as Mee Kg. Pek), Restoran Haji Ramli has always been our favourite place to satisfy our hungry stomach after almost 10 hours travelling in the car (approximately another 1 hour needed to reach Kota Bharu from Kg Pek, Machang). Everytime we dine here, we only order this mee rebus. Nothing else, and the kids enjoy it so much too.
I need not describe in details of this mee rebus, just take a look at the picture, and suffice to say that it will be worth your while to check it out when you are on your next trip to Kelantan.
One thing I noticed though, the quality of the prawns not as good as it used to be when I initially knew this place many years back. The prawns used to be very big and often very fresh. Having said that, Mee Kg Pek still compares respectably with many other mee rebus I had tried else where.

The original restaurant used to be my favourite too when I was plying the Kota Bharu Gua Musang road every weekend. As you said it the quality went down considerably. Furthermore there are a few other outlets nearer to KB such as the one in Ketereh which I tried to sample once but the cleanliness was clearly wanting and I just left the place without trying. There is another outlet in Jalan Pengkalan Chepa Kota Bharu. These outlets are operated by either his siblings or his children. If I am not mistaken Hj. Ramli passed away some years ago.
CJCM: Pak Zawi…. I also saw few outlets bearing the name Mee Kg Pek, but did not dare to even go in.. hehehe
i only know about mee rebus hj.wahid in Johor..the story went On Air past few years ago in Majalah 3, TV3. A very popular menu in Johor.
