The B5Media network:

Mahathir quit UMNO Baru, showing his true color

Shahrir Abdul SamadShahrir Abdul Samad said:

The Johor Baru member of Parliament said that while Mahathir was a brilliant person, his resignation however did not seem like a very clever way of bringing about change within the party.

“I feel his actions are weird and not logical,” he added when asked to comment today on Mahathir’s shocking announcement.

Rafidah Aziz said:

Wanita Umno chief Rafidah Aziz meanwhile said that Mahathir’s action looked as though he was punishing the party over issues which he was not happy about.

“By right those who want change can do so internally, improve and correct from within. We know he wants transfer of power but it should be done systematically,” she said.

“We were taught by him to be loyal to the party but it looks like he is not practicing what he preaches,” added the former trade minister.

Well, I tend to agree with Shahrir…. Mahathir is one weird person. He had ruled Malaysia like a dictator for a long time, passed the baton to Pak Lah, his trusted man, and after just two terms had the audacity to blame Pak Lah squarely for all the fiasco. That is weird.

He also introduced the quota system to safeguard his power within his party, and now he is the one urging Pak Lah to scrap the quota system saying it can lead to abuse, doesn’t matter the fact that he himself had benefited from the abusable system. Isn’t that weird too?

You could go on and on and on and see how weird this ex-Prime Minister is. The real winner in this war between Mahathir and Pak Lah is of course none other than Anwar Ibrahim. Now go figure that out if you do not know what I mean.
