BUM 2008

BUM 2008

I attended BUM2007 last year but I will miss tomorrow’s BUM2008 which will be held at The Lake View Club SUbang Jaya.
I have to skip this year’s event as I have to attend to some personal matters but I am sure I will have the opportunity to read about the events which will be covered by the bloggers who will attend BUM2008.
Let’s hope BUM2008 will be as good as BUM2007, if not better.

Name an idol (dead or alive) whom you look up to and why.

Blogging in Parliment

Blogging in Parliment

I am not sure who is officially the first blogger to be appointed Member of Parliament because there were quite a few bloggers who have won in the recent general election, both at the parliament level and DUN level. But Jeff Ooi and Tony Pua are definitely the first bloggers who have blogged live in Parliament. Congratulation to Jeff and Tony… go get them soldiers!
Read Jeff’s maiden post in Parliment here and here and Tony’s here. So who is the first? Well… It probably does not matter much but Jeff and Tony must let us know their time of …read more

Anwar Ibrahim not bluffing… I hope so!

Anwar Ibrahim not bluffing… I hope so!

Opposition figurehead Anwar Ibrahim was not bluffing when he said Pakatan Rakyat is ready to form the next federal government by Sept 16 this year, a senior leader from his party said.
“Certainly he (Anwar) is not (bluffing). Certainly it is based on facts and figures when he said on many occasions that we have the numbers (to form the new federal government).

I had originally not agreed to Anwar’s courting BN MPs to cross over so that Pakatan Rakyat can form the a new federal government, however with the following recent developments since …read more

Makkal Osai is back…. PPPA must go!

Makkal Osai is back…. PPPA must go!

OK…. Makkal Osai got its permit back. Initially the Home Ministry did not renew its permit, thanks to Printing Presses and Publications Act (PPPA). Why the Home Ministry did not renew Makkal Osai permit? No one knew. No reason was given. The renewal of the permit is absolutely in the hand of the Home Ministry’s. That’s how it works here in Malaysia the Bolehland.
But what makes me wonder is that, until now, there has not been any serious attempt by all journalists to press the BN Government to repeal this act? This is the act that have threatened their livelihoods …read more

Malaysian politics just got better, hotter…. and kinkier?

Malaysian politics just got better, hotter…. and kinkier?

If you thought the recent loss of 5 states to Pakatan Rakyat in the recent general election is already at the height of Malaysian political news and happenings, you are in for a big surprise. Malaysian political scenarios are actually getting ‘better’ by the days…. it is amazing.
Former Gerakan deputy secretary-general Lee Kah Choon has submitted a letter to withdraw his party membership and hopes that this will put an end to the controversy surrounding him.
In an one-page statement today, Lee reiterated that his objective is clear and consistent throughout his political career, which is to serve the people.
The former …read more

In memory of Allahyarham Rustam Sani

In memory of Allahyarham Rustam Sani

I was quite shocked to learn about Rustam Sani’s demise through Nuraina’s 3540 Jalan Sudin. Although I have never met this great man, I, and I believe many of you as well, have certainly not missed to read many of his thought-provoking articles in his blog, Suara Rakyat, which centered mostly around socio-political scenarios in Malaysia. Coincidently, his last post in his blog was titled: Trust is dead – but miracle is still as alive as hope itself. Rustam Sani is dead but his thoughts and spirits will remain alive with us for a long time to come, if …read more

Reforming ACA: Why takes so long?

Reforming ACA: Why takes so long?

The ACA reform was long overdue but only after four years taking over from Mahathir, Pak Lah’s finally had the gut (or is forced?) to announce his government’s intention to make the ACA a fully independent commission which will be answerable to Parliment. It is obvious, the announcement had something to do with the fact that BN had suffered a severe blow in the recent general elections that clearly shows Malaysians are fed up with BN.
But knowing how Pak Lah and BN Government work, many of us are taking this announcement very cautiously.
Malaysians will not want a new anti-corruption …read more
