11th-hour poll rules changes: BN’s dirty trick department at work?
Election Commission (EC) announced on Thursday 21st Feb 2008 that all election candidates must must pay stamp duty on their applications to contest. Election candidates particularly in northern states where Friday and Saturday are holidays, could be disqualified due to the fact that they only have Sunday morning to do that. But the problem is, government offices selling revenue stamps in the northern states will open at 8am on Sunday and yet the candidates have to submit the nomination form between 9.00am and 10am on the same day.
A very neat ‘dirty trick’ by EC? Is this part of the plan by the BN Government who had worked extra time to amend the constitution to extend the service of certain individual? What is the purpose of imposing such rules at the last minutes? Perhaps, nomination day tomorrow willl tell the story.
Government offices selling revenue stamps in the northern states will open at 8am on Sunday, considered a working day here, leaving candidates little time before nominations must be submitted between 9am and 10am on that day.
“I see this as a gimmick to make things difficult for opposition candidates,” said Mustaffa Ali, state election chief for the Islamic opposition party PAS.

CJCM: Thx for sharing Wisdom Above…
I’m so angry that Umno keeps on getting to be more b******** evil! Enough with politeness! How can one be polite and civil to such evil-doers!
CJCM: Noor Aza, dont get angry…. get even. 8th March 2008 is the day to get even but before that you have to get as many friends and relatives to be on your side… the rakyat’s side.
I suggest all BA parties put their foot down. BOYCOTT the 2008 Elections. Let BN go to the polls by themselves. It would be a shame on them. This 11th hour poll rule change is the most dirtiest and unprofessional way to CHEAT. Get a court injunction against the EC oldman.
CJCM: Boycott is no solution to this Sir. BN has no shame. BA must fight. Remember the phrase ‘Sepandai2 tupai melompat, akan jatuh ketanah juga akhirnya’. That will be BN’s fate in the end…. as only truth will prevail.
WHY impose this condition at the last minute? Something fishy! During holidays in some States how do you buy stamps ? No doubt, Sunday morning at 8 the Government Department opens. But within one hour, how to buy and rush to the Nomination Centres which may be far away ?
CJCM: HSH…. yes a lot of people smells something very fishy… even the indellible inks are now not compulsory? Hu hu hu
[...] The BN candidate’s nomination form was not furnished with the stamp duty as required by Election Commission’s latest ruling. [...]
