Malaysiakini however reported that a total of 47 detainees still being held in Pudu Jail while the remand hearing for their arrests are still continuing as at 9.00pm Sunday 27th January 2008 and the key players are expected to be charged only tomorrow.
Malaysiakini’s journalist Syed Jaymal Zahiid’s fate is still unknown but Malaysiakini has sought the assistance of lawyer Ameer Hamzah to see to Syed’s legal needs while under police detention. It was also reported that the journalist had filed a police report against his arrest claiming that the arrest was unlawful. He also claimed that a police officer had punched his head and another had pulled his hair.

If there are those who were only involved within the ambit of the universally accepted basic human rights laws in a peaceful manner, then no courts should fault them
unless there is total absence of democracy.
