Pak Lah: I am duty-bound to act because the people want the Government to act…
It is obvious that this Prime Minister of Malaysia, used to be known as Mr. Clean a.k.a Mr. Nice Guy, is under pressure and he can’t take it anymore. How else can you explain his recent move to slap the infamous Internal Security Acts (ISA) on Hindraf leaders with a 2-year detention without trial that did not even go through the normal procedures for invoking the fearful draconian act many had been trying to pressure the Malaysian Government to abolish.
Normally, an ISA detainee will be held under Section 73 of the Act which allows a person to be detained for up to 60 days by the police without any warrant of arrest at an undisclosed location, held incommunicado and denied access to legal counsel.
Interrogation is to be carried out during this period – often involving allegations of torture and abuse – on the suspect deemed as likely to commit an act that pose threats to national security.
After the 60-day period, the detainee can be released or further held for two years under Section 8 of the ISA at the Kamunting camp at the discretion of the internal security minister. The two-year order is renewable.

Pak Lah further justifies his action to use ISA….
“Our action is justified. We have to take action if something undesirable to national security and public safety happens,” he was quoted as saying by the official Bernama news agency late Thursday.
“I am duty-bound to act because the people want the government to take action. The people don’t want to see this country in chaos,” he said.

OK… I agree with Pak Lah that people want the government to take action but please Mr Prime Minister, this is not the action the Malaysian people want.
With respects to Hindraf, the people want your government to take actions to correct what the previous and current BN government had not done enough (from Hindraf’s point of course) for the Indian community. The Malaysian people want the Government to listen to their grouses and provide workable solutions but not shut them up with ISA.
And there are many other issues that the Malaysian people had wanted you to take actions Dear Pak Lah….
The people (and the whole world for that matter) want you to abolish the ISA, not to use them at your will. The people also demand that those currently held under ISA should be tried in open court, especially when you always said the Government had evidence that these people are posing threats to national security. If you have no evidences against these people, the people want you to release them unconditionally Pak Lah.
The people want you, Pak Lah, to address corruptions as a whole but not on piece meals basis where only small fries were netted but the large sharks were let free. If you do not know who the large sharks are, go and ask Ezam Mohd Noor, Lim Kit Siang, Anwar Ibrahim and many more and they will tell you all. In fact they have countlessly told you and your Government Pak Lah but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears.
Dear Pak Lah, just recently the people had also demanded that you ensure fair and free elections in Malaysia. But instead of listening to the people’s demands, you and your BN MPs, within days, conveniently passed a motion in Parliment to extend the retirement age of SPR Chief, clearly with the intention to extend the service of the existing SPR Chief whose credibility had been very much tainted by his own doings.
Dear Pak Lah, the people had always wanted for you and your Government to take actions to ensure the tolls rates remain low. However instead of taking actions for the benefits of the people at large, you choose to take actions that will only benefit the toll operators… never mind the fact that you had classified the very agreements between the Government and the toll operators under OSA… when you should have let the people see the agreements that will cost them multi-millions of hard-earnbed dollars.
Dear Pak Lah, we could go on and on and on to talk about what the people want you and your BN Government to take actions on but it seems that everytime a demand is made for actions, you had always acted otherwise…. why?
