Bersih march to Istana Negara: What really happened Part 4

Bersih march to Istana Negara: What really happened Part 4

The huge crowds now were on their way towards the Sime Darby LRT station, and then to continue their walks to demand for clean and fair elections to Istana Negara. In this video, you can see, despite there were thousands of marchers on the streets of Kuala Lumpur, the traffic were not blocked at all. The crowds were walking and running on both sides of the roads and vehicles were passing through in the middle of the roads. The traffic were rather smooth although it moved at much slower pace. I reiterate, the traffic jams were not caused by the …read more

Bersih march to Istana Negara: What really happened Part 3

After the first tear gas and water canon spray were fired towards the crowds in front of the LRT Masjid Jamek, the people had to escape using the back lane leading towards Masjid Jamek. As you can see in this video, everyone was suffering from the effect ot the tear gas and the chemically-laced water from the red truck. Those who were more prepared came with some clothing to cover their mouths and noses preventing them from directly breathing and inhaling the gas. But the eyes had to work extra hard as there were no ways these poor people could …read more

Bersih march to Istana Negara: What really happened Part 2

Bersih march to Istana Negara: What really happened Part 2

If you are asking how many people turned up today in the city center of Kuala Lumpur to attend the Bersih rally, you will never get the true number. But there were so many of them. Harakah Daily reported more than 100,000 although Malaysiakini reported just 40,000. I am not sure how many reported by mainstream media if any at all, but from my guessing game, 40,000 is just too low. At the Masjid Jamek alone there were seas of people. I could not imagine how many were there at other locations such as Masjid Negara and Pasar Seni, but …read more

Bersih march to Istana Negara: What really happened Part 1

Although there were stern warnings by the police and Pak Lah, various pre-cautionary measures taken by the government and the police, thousands of concerned citizens showed up in Kuala Lumpur today. And yes, Kuala Lumpur was painted quite yellow today…. thanks to Bersih for that.

I just came back home from Kuala Lumpur 30 minutes ago. And I am so tired. I was there to discover what really happened at the Bersih gathering where it was supposed to bring together 100,000 concerned Malaysian citizens to join Bersih in the march to the Palace. And in one word, all I can conclude …read more

Bersih and yellow

Bersih and yellow

Watch out…. come 3pm, 10th November 2007, the city of Kuala Lumpur will suppossedly be painted with yellow. The mission was to mobilize 100,000 citizens all dressed in yellow, to march from Dataran Merdeka to The National Palace to hand over a memorandum to The King seeking help from the Royal Highness to intervene and help to ensure fair elections in Malaysia. The yellow rally, if it ever happens, is organized by Bersih, a Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections.

VK Lingam video: Truly independent panel

VK Lingam video: Truly independent panel

What I read in Malaysiakini today proves that the Independent Panel formed by the Government to probe the authenticity of the VK Lingam video is truly independent. The toothless Independent Panel which consist of Chairperson Haidar Mohd Noor, Mahadev Shankar and Lee Lam Thye finally showed us how independent they are by announcing that they will submit independent reports to the government. What it means is that there will be no concensus within the Independent Panel and of course no single conclusion came out from their independent investigations… Great job guys!!
The three-member inquiry panel set up to probe the authenticity …read more
