HINDRAF causing traffic jam?
Bersih rally had caused Kuala Lumpur traffic reduced to a standstill on Nov 10 2007. Ok… I am not stating the fact quite right. We all knew the fact that the roadblocks by the police force were the main contributors to the massive jam around Kuala Lumpur on that fateful day. I thought that was over… but it seems that the lessons were never learnt. Malaysiakini reported that there were massive traffic jams around Kuala Lumpur yet again. This time Malaysiakini had reported that a police source had revealed that the roadblocks were setup to prevent the Malaysian Indians from coming to Kuala Lumpur en-masse to join the HINDRAF rally which is planned to happen on Sunday. 10,000 is expected to turn up.
A police source confirmed that the roadblocks have been set up to block those attending the Hindraf rally.
“We just want to show police presence in the areas,” said the source, who requested anonymity.

That explains why, I was caught up in a veeeery loooooong traffic jam this morning on my way to office. The queue started to build up even before the Sg Besi toll plaza on the PLUS highway from Seremban towards Kuala Lumpur. I thought the SMART tunnel was closed again but I didnt recall any heavy rain last night. Only when I reached the Petronas station next to Bukit Jalil Technology Park I saw the traffic were merging to the right… and I saw policemen just standing by doing nothing. Not a single vehicle was stopped and checked when I passed by…. so I wondered what was the purpose of the roadblocks? Just to create traffic jams? Even if to prevent people from coming to Kuala Lumpur to join HINDRAF rally, today is Friday for God sake…. and the rally is on Sunday. Unbelievable!!!
The police chief confirmed that numerous roadblocks have been erected around the city to prevent rally participants from entering.
“We believe they will be wearing orange shirts,” he said in reply to a question.
After the press conference, however, Zulhasnan said the roadblocks were part of a “crime prevention” exercise.
Zulhasnan skirted a question as to whether the police would be using water cannon and tear gas to disperse the crowd.

Water cannon? Tear gas? He he he… read what happened in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 10 here…. you will know what I mean. I hope it will rain in Kuala Lumpur this Sunday and I wish all the best to the organizer of the HINDRAF rally… I hope they don’t have to go through what Bersih rally organizers and participants went through. The police however had not issued any permit for the Sunday rally and had issued stern warnings and promised stern actions against those attending the gathering. But I didn’t hear Samy Vellu shouting ‘Saya pantang di cabar’… or did I miss anything? Sunday will tell all… stay tuned.
