Zaid Ibrahim: Are you really serious?

Zaid Ibrahim - Are you serious about the royal commission?Zaid Ibrahim’s latest statement as reported by Malaysiakini proved that he is indeeda gemstone among pebbles, as described by M. Bakri Musa.

A Barisan Nasional MP told Parliament today that the government should have formed a royal commission of inquiry into the scandalous Lingam tape.

“This goes to show that the panel is powerless to do anything. I don’t understand. Why didn’t they just form a royal commission of inquiry into the tape?” asked Zaid, adding that the government should have formed the commission if it was serious in a quick resolution to the matter.

“This is not just any allegation, it is a serious allegation. In the 90s, we had a scandal involving the then Chief Justice, and now we have this.”

“I was made to understand that the prime minister (Abdullah Ahmad Badawai) wanted a royal commission of inquiry set up to investigate the tape but some people in the government do not want the commission,” he said in his debate on the Supply Bill 2008.

Zaid, a lawyer, also questioned the rationale of setting up an independent panel to only verify the authenticity of the tape.

He also urged the ACA not to go after the messenger but to look into the message itself.

“Last week, I was shocked to see a Utusan Malaysia front-page report on ACA completing its investigation against (PKR de facto leader) Anwar (Ibrahim),” he said, adding that the ACA should leave the messenger alone and look into the message instead.

“I’m puzzled as to why this issue has taken such a twist. He’s (Anwar) is not even a factor, they (ACA) should not harass him,” he said.

Well Mr Zaid, now that you proved you are what Bakri has said of you, I have a question for you. Are you really serious about your urging the BN Government, of which you are part of, to form a royal commission to investigate Lingam’s tape?

If you are serious Mr Zaid, you should (if you had not done so) sign the petition to the Agong for the setting up of royal commission. You should also encourage all your lawyers under your esteemed legal firm to do the same.

If you are serious about what you had said as reported by Malaysiakini Mr Zaid, I also urge you to file another urgent motion in Parliment to debate this issue, which have been rejected twice by the speaker Ramli Ngah Talib. It doesn’t matter if the motion will be rejected the third time but if you are serious, may I ask you to file another urgent motion to debate the judiciary issues in the Parliment. (Why the heck did Ramli Ngah Talib ask Wan Azizah to resubmit the motion while he knew that would be rejected again by him is beyond my comprehension).

If you are serious Mr Zaid, will we see you at the Bar Council’s EGM come 22nd November 2007 to discuss about the status of the judiciary?

Are you serious Mr Zaid Ibrahim? Please walk your talk!

I admire your frank talk in Malaysiakini. If there are many like u in the present cabinet, I think the rakyat will return to BN in GE13. Many supporters are in the opinion that Najib, Hishammuddin, Mohd Nazri, Muhammad Taib, Azalina, even Nor should not be in the cabinet.
