Developer donated RM130K to a political party to ensure project approval
What appears in today’s Star Online is indeed interesting. It strengthen public’s perception that this country is laden with corrupt practices everywhere. Now, which political party do you think had the ability to influence the government officials to approve project? Your guess is as good as anyone’s guess. But let’s see if the police will probe this case and bring those responsible to book.
I guess this will be hard to prove as there is no trace of the transactions as there were no receipt, unless the payment was made by cheque or transfer to a bank account, which was a stupid thing to do anyway for this sick purpose.
Developer lodges report
MALACCA: A housing developer has lodged a police report against a former state assemblyman for failing to return RM130,000.
In the report, the developer claimed that the money was paid to ensure that their company received the approval to develop a 14.2ha site for housing .
The developer, who refused to be identified, claimed that the former assemblyman was paid RM80,000 on March 14, 2003 while another RM50,000 was handed to him as a contribution to a political fund two weeks later.
The developer said that he had enquired from the political party but was informed that they did not receive any contribution from his company.
He said that he had also asked the former assemblyman to give him a receipt for the contribution to the fund but had not received one.
The developer said the former assemblyman had given assurance that they would return the RM130,000 if the company did not get the project.
He said that he had also tried several times to get the politician to return the money but he had not responded to it.
Jasin OCPD DSP Che Suza Che Hitam confirmed that the report had been lodged yesterday against the former assemblyman
