The B5Media network:

Opposyphobia syndrom in Parliment: What is then that can be considered urgent Mr Speaker?

Ramli Ngah Talib…. suffers from acute Opposyphobia syndromFor generations, Malaysian Parliment speakers have been suffering from a syndrom called Opposyphobia. No, don’t bother to refer to your Thesaurus or google the phrase on the web because this syndrom is only applicable in Malaysian Parliment thus not defined anywhere else in the world. Everytime the opposition moves for an urgent motion to be debated in the Parliment, the answer is always not urgent and the excuse given is because so and so is already looking into it. Even though the motion does make sense or beneficial for the public to know, don’t also expect your elected Member of Parliments from the Backbenchers will support the motion by the opposition Members of Parliment.

Just recently the current Dewan Rakyat Speaker, Ramli Ngah Talib, who has been suffering from acute Opposyphobia syndrom for quite sometime, had rejected a motion to debate about the PKFZ scandals that had cost the nation RM4.6 billion of wasted public fund. No…. thats is not important and that is not urgent to be debated in the Parliment.

Today, the same Opposyphobia-suffering Dewan Rakyat Speaker had again rejected another urgent motion, this time by Salahuddin Ayub, to debate the live-bullet shooting incident involving police and FRU personnels to disperse the crowds attending a gathering organized by BERSIH, an NGO that promotes free and fair election in Malaysia. The reason? It is just a riot and the police is already investigating already matter.

Two innocent people exercising their rights to express themselves had been shot with live-bullets by the police and the ’sick’ Speaker who had been suffering from Opposyphobia syndrom, just like the rest of the Backbencers, just dismissed the incident as just a riot?

An urgent motion to debate the violent stand off between the police and opposition supporters in Kuala Terengganu on Saturday night was rejected by the Dewan Rakyat speaker Ramli Ngah Talib today.

Ramli agreed with Salahuddin Ayub (PAS-Kubang Kerian), who brought the motion, that the matter was of public interest but ruled that it was not an urgent matter that needed to be debated and discussed in the House.

“It is just a riot and the police are investigating. Therefore I find the matter is of no urgency and I reject your appeal to discuss the matter now in this proceeding,” he said.

Tell us then Mr Speaker, what is the nature and criteria of an urgent motion that can be considered eligible to be debated in Parliment? I would also like to suggest that you immediately seek ‘medical treatement’ before being completely ‘paralysed’ by the dangerous Opposyphobia syndrom that had so far been very contagious within the Parliment of Malaysia. Is there any cure for this syndrom? Anyone?
