PKFZ RM4.6 billion scandal: Urgent motion by Lim Kit Siang will be rejected.

I can’t recall how many hundreds of times, if not thousands, the Opposition MPs had failed in their motions to debate pressing issues affecting the people. Mind you, these motions were normally very important from the eyes of the people which seems to be making sense only in the Opposition MPs point of view… but never for the Government’s MPs… very strange. All sorts of excuses were given in rejecting these motions and you don’t have to be surprised to find many of these reasons given by the speakers were just plain stupid.

So when I read Malaysiakini report that the pressure is on for MP’s to debate the PKFZ fiasco next Monday in the Parliment, I don’t have any hope the motion will be taken seriously by the speaker, much less by the majority of BN MPs. I will just wait for Monday to see what lame excuses would be given this time for rejecting this motion by Lim Kit Siang. Since the speaker has three days before the Parliment continues, he will have ample time to think of more creative reasons in rejecting this motion. Let’s wait and see how creative he can be this time around.

The first order of business when the Parliament reconvenes on Monday will be to discuss the RM4.6 billion bailout of the troubled Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ). That is if Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang has his way.

Lim (left) said today that he had given notice to Parliament speaker Ramli Ngah to move an urgent motion on the matter.

He argued that Parliament is entitled to know whether past or present transport and finance ministers are responsible for wasting billions of ringgit of taxpayers money.

“If Ling Liong Sik who was transport minister until 2003 was responsible for the scandal, then he should be arrested and prosecuted in court. If (present transport minister) Chan (Kong Choy) is responsible, then let Chan be charged for the RM4.6 billion negligence,” Lim said.

“If both Ling and Chan are both jointly responsible, let both be charged in court – which is the only way to ensure that Malaysians can celebrate the 50th Merdeka anniversary with some pride about our national integrity instead of having to hang our heads in shame.”
