Police report against the Malaysian PM Pak Lah: Tit-for-tat?

Police report against the Malaysian PM Pak Lah: Tit-for-tat?

Call it whatever, Malaysiakini’s report today may have put it in the right perspective…. PM is getting a dose of UMNO’s own medicine. Ronnie Liu, DAP’s central executive committee member, had lodged a police report against Pak Lah over a seditious comments in an article that was posted in the Prime Minister’s official website on Nov 14 last year entitled ‘Bersatulah Kaum Cina’ (The Chinese race must unite).
The report which had always been there in the website had apparently been removed. Many believe the removal was done after Ronnie Liu had blogged about the article in his blog. Ronnie …read more

Jeff Ooi joining DAP: Is this for real?

I found this entry in today’s Star Online:

PETALING JAYA: Prominent blogger Jeff Ooi is set to join the DAP and contest in the general election.
The DAP is planning a “welcoming ceremony” on Tuesday to announce his crossover from blogosphere to party politics. Top party leaders as well as some of Ooi’s blogger friends will attend the ceremony.
Ooi, in his 50s, is an e-business consultant but is better known for his blog which focuses on current issues with an emphasis on politics. He is also an expert of sorts …read more

Police report against RPK and Malaysia Today: The consequences

Police report against RPK and Malaysia Today: The consequences

The police report against RPK by Muhammad Taib as UMNO Information Chief must have backfired for the Selangor’s ex-Chief Minister a.k.a Mat Tyson and UMNO in general. Suffice to say the police report had more negatives effect on Mat Tyson and UMNO. If you read what RPK had written in his blog about the investigation by the police, the whole thing is nothing but a big joke.
When that ex-Selangor Menteri Besar with two Muhamads in his name went to the Dang Wangi Police Station on Monday to lodge his police report, he did not have any details to support the …read more

Police report lodged against Malaysia Today: Another blogger to be charged?

Police report lodged against Malaysia Today: Another blogger to be charged?

UMNO had lodged a police report against Malaysia Today, a political blog run by Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK). However, RPK has better luck compared to Nathaniel Tan in that he was not arrested under any act, yet. However, Malaysiakini had reported that RPK had been called by the police for questioning today.
Although RPK is well known to be anti-establishment, the police report made by UMNO’s information chief Muhammad Muhammad Taib had nothing to do with RPK’s critism on the Government or its officials.
On Monday, Taib told reporters that the postings and articles on the website were disrespectful to the King …read more

Cheapest air travel Sydney – Kuala Lumpur by Jetstar

Cheapest air travel Sydney – Kuala Lumpur by Jetstar

AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandez will have to do more magic to beat Jetstar when it comes to low cost travel between Sydney and Kuala Lumpur. Tony had just announced the plan for AirAsia’s long-haul operation AirAsiaX to be the first low cost airline to operate between Australia and Malaysia but Jetstar apparently had already offered low cost travel between Sydney and Kuala Lumpur for merely RM88.00 one way. Wow…. with this kind of airfare, you (yes…… you who are reading this post) and I could be on our way to Sydney anytime sooner than we ever thought.

It would be interesting …read more

50% Malaysian household to have broadband services by 2010: Are our service providers ready?

50% Malaysian household to have broadband services by 2010: Are our service providers ready?

I read yesterday’s news about the National Broadband Implementation Plan with much interest. The government is targeting to have 50% Malaysian household to have broadband servcies by 2010. I hope the gorvernment, or the party entrusted by the government, would think about the implementation in great detail in order to achieve the ambitious plan, especially in forming the partnership with either private or public sector.
Although there are a number of servcie providers offering broadband in Malaysia, most of them still rely on the infrastructure provided by Telekom Malaysia which also offers its own brand of broadband service Streamyx. Sadly …read more

Nathaniel Tan: I just want to go and look for roti canai to eat

After four days being detained bu the police, Nathaniel Tan a.k.a Nat had been released on bail.
Tan was investigated for alleged breach of Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act 1972, in relation to a comment left on his blog site linking Deputy Internal Security Minister Mohd Johari Baharum to a corruption allegation.
Source: Malaysiakini
Nat however is supposed to report back to Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) on July 31st 2007.
This lad has a good sense of humour though. Of all the Malaysian foods, roti canai seems to be his favourite and most wanted food after four days of …read more

AirAsia: Now not everyone can fly

AirAsia: Now not everyone can fly

I knew about the fact that AirAsia doesn’t use the sky-bridges at the airports (except at the KLIA) before but it never cross my mind that such a missing ‘frill’ would cause so much difficulty to special group of people whom we always make sure their needs are taken care of whenever and wherever they go… the disabled folks.
The very first time I used AirAsia flying from Kota Bharu to Kuala Lumpur, I asked the airport staff why the passengers were not using the sky-bridges when there were such facilities available. The answer was pretty straight forward. Tony Fernandez decided …read more

Yet another Malaysian blogger in trouble

Yet another Malaysian blogger in trouble

But he is not just another blogger. Graduated from Harvard, Nathaniel Tan, 26, a Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR) Information Bureau staff is also the secretary for an international NGO Foundation of the Future, whose chairman is Anwar Ibrahim.
Nat, as he is commonly known among close friends, apparently is being detained under the Official Secret Act (OSA) making him the first blogger in Malaysia to be arrested under the act, a record I am sure Nat is not proud of…. but I could be wrong here.
His arrest is the result of Deputy Internal Security Minister Johari Baharom’s instructions to police to …read more
