What do Kuala Lumpur folks want?
Kuala Lumpur celebrated its 33rd Federal territory Day yesterday. StarMetro had conducted some interviews among Kuala Lumpur folks and asked them what do they think of Kuala Lumpur city and what sort of change they like to see in their city? The answers were interesting and just as diversed as the folks interviewed.
“The city lacks Malaysian flavour in terms of the way we dress,” declared electrical and electronic students M. Suresh, 20 and J. Rubenrakumar, 23.
They hope to see more KLites clad in “Malaysian-inspired attire” as the city is where most tourists are.
Interior designer Benson Lim feels that there are too many shopping malls in the city.
Fatihah Balqis, who moved to in Kuala Lumpur three years ago with her family, said her only wish was to see fewer foreign workers in the city.
The mat rempit (illegal motorcycle racers) phenomenon is what Budi Namma hates most about Kuala Lumpur at night.
Liyana also hoped to see more well-dressed Malaysian men in the city. “They all look like slobs,” she said.
“Visiting washrooms should be free,” said Soo, who travels from Wangsa Maju via the LRT frequently.
“I hope to see less dirt and garbage lying around, no one seems to care about it. The authorities should put up more garbage and recycling bins,” she said.
